Introduction to a series of Blog posts!

My name is Brian. I was born in Dublin and have lived here since. Thankfully both my parents are still alive. They have in their own way as parents do, influenced my life in lots of ways, while allowing me freedom and choice in others. I have 3 brothers and a sister. I’m married to Suzanne, and we have 2 lovely children, Rachel and Luke, who ask me lots of questions, just like I did to my parents. Ever since I was young, I have always had and continue to have a strong curiosity for many things. Why is the question I ask the most. I can’t simply except that something is the way it is, I need to know why it is. I even studied Philosophy in college, but this just left me asking more questions than I had at the start.

I’m grateful for technology. It plays a massive part in my life, and always did. Since the days when I counted the notches on an analogue Time-Switch, when I wanted to record something from the radio, such as the pop charts on a Sunday, to doing my job as an accessibility QA Digital Tester, to reading the news, I’m grateful for the technology I have, and always use it where ever it will make a difference in my life.

Another important part of my life is friendship. Be it online friendship or face-to-face friendship. Like us all, I’ve made and lost some friends along the way, I’m no different to anyone else in that regard. What can kick-start a friendship is meeting someone with a similar personality, or a similar level of curiosity. I had the pleasure to meet a fella called Paul, who likes to ask just as many questions as I do, and always wants to know why something is the way it is.
The difference between Paul and I, is that Paul is fully sighted, and I’m totally blind. Our worlds often merge, but sometimes they are different. We’ve known each other for close on 20 years now. We’ve often talked about writing a series of questions to each other on different topics. While we cannot see each other at this time, and only the man above knows when that will end, we both felt we would like to give a blog a shout. We will ask each other a series of questions, at least one a day, and we will respond. This will get shared to Twitter and Facebook too, so feel free to comment on anything you hear, just like some people do, when they overhear our varied conversations.
