Welcome To The First Weekend Of June
Hi everyone. Not only has my favourite day of the week, Friday, come around once again, but it’s my favourite time of the year too. June brings long bright evenings, people come out onto the streets and a feel good feeling is there to be seen. Today at 7 PM in Ireland and the UK or 2 PM Eastern, I will bring that feel good feeling onto the airwaves as I look forward to saying, Welcome To The First Weekend Of June.
Two hours of bouncy up beat music mixed with friendly banter, will leave you feeling on top of the world and its available for you to grab today.
In the usual manner, we have our regular features for you to enjoy. Your suggestions for future shows for any of them are most welcome.
• Kick-Start. This opening track sets the pace for the weekend ahead, and the choice is totally yours. By request this weekend, we take a track released in December 1989 that won a Grammy Award for best female rock vocalist.
• Double-Take. At the bottom of the first hour, we play two tracks by the one artist along with a little bio on the artist in question. Rihanna is our featured artist this weekend.
• The Irish Connection. Exactly 1 hour later I play two tracks by two different Irish artists. Both of these should be known to you on this occasion, as they are household names the world over.
• The One That Got Away. This feature is dedicated to a track that is not often heard on the Radio. This weekend, we go back to an album released in 1979, by the Clash.
In the second hour, I’ll even count down the top five singles in the UK chart from this Weekend in the year 2000, and welcome your memories from the first year of the new Millennium.
